Prom night is supposed to be a night of fun and celebration. Sadly it is has also become a security nightmare for many schools. Other schools have learned that they can utilize lanyards to make the event safer for students, guests and faculty. How can this be done? Consider the following ideas.

Every student attending grad would be asked to wear their ID card and a lanyard while they were at the function. This request is one that many schools make of their students on a daily basis. It is normal policy for both the students and the faculty to have their ID on display whenever they are on school grounds.

This policy can be expanded to include graduation night. When a school is getting ready for prom they often require that each and every student provide a guest list. This list can be used in conjunction with a lanyard. Prom night procedures begin by restricting the guests to using only one door. As each guest enters the building their name would be crossed off the list and they would be handed a lanyard. This lanyard would act as their ticket into the prom. Any person not wearing a lanyard would be asked to leave.

This concept can be expanded even further. The name of each guest could be printed onto a card. This card would then be carried on the cord using either an alligator or bull clip. When a person was leaving the event both the card and the lanyard would need to be turned in. Asking people to turn in their cord has two purposes. The first is the fact that organisers will know when someone has left the event. And the second is the fact that cords can be reused.

Another way to improve this strategy is to implement a color lanyard system. This system involves handing lanyards to every person at the grad not just the guests. Parents are often asked to assist the school during prom night. Every parent who was volunteering would also be asked to wear a lanyard. The color system would be used to denote which people were at the prom as guests and which ones were volunteers. For example, yellow would be given to volunteers and green would be given to guests.

The great thing about this system is the fact that a lanyard will not damage a person's clothes. Even the most delicate fabrics will not be harmed by a cord. Furthermore, the lanyard can be worn by anybody. This includes both men and women young and old.

The other great thing about lanyards is the price. Hundreds of lanyards can be purchase at a reasonable price. In fact many suppliers offer their cords at wholesale rates. They are even willing to reduce the cost of an individual cord in relation to the number being requested. Some businesses are even willing to pay the cost of shipping and handling if the order is large enough.

Prom night should be a fun night. Lanyards can help to ensure that it remains a fun night by improving the safety of every person at the event.
